Exactly three years after Emma Schols saved herself and her six children from their burning house in Edsbyn, today she runs the Tjejmilen in Stockholm. The road back has been long. But daring to challenge herself has been important, even though she had to learn a lot again.
– It will be a bonus to run the mile and show the children that I will get through the next goal.
This time it is not a goal to survive, but now it is to live.
It was on September 3, 2019 that the family’s house started to burn.
In connection with Emma Schols saving herself and her children, she sustained severe burns.
Since then, she has required extensive hospital care and undergone several operations, which have not yet been completed.
But when Emma Schols saw a notice on social media about the Tjejmile and that it happened to be on the third anniversary of the fire, she signed up for the race.
